Aloe lineata

Aloe lineata - A true Cape mountain and winter rainfall species, this single-stemmed aloe, which grows to a height of about 2m, flowers in summer (December-March). The bluish green leaves have distinct reddish longitudinal lines on both surfaces and the margins are armed with firm reddish brown teeth. The colour of the flowers range from light pink to bright red. In addition to the typical form, var. muiri is also recognized - with yellow green leaves and distinct red striations, and larger marginal teeth - which flowers in winter/spring (June-November). It occurs between Riversdal to Grahamstown, from sea level to about 1600m. Not difficult to cultivate. Drought resistant and will cope with light frost.
