Anastrabe integerrima

English: Pambati-tree; Afrikaans: Pambatieboom

Anastrabe integerrima - Fairly hardy, fast growing, evergreen shrub or small tree, height 3-10m, with a compact root system which makes it ideal for the smaller garden. Occurs in forests & margins & on rocky outcrops to 1200m altitude. Often grows next to water streams. Stem straight, often multi-stemmed. Bark pale grey brown, sparsely warty. Attractive leaves are bright glossy green on top and creamy-brown and felt-like below. The many clusters of custard-yellow flowers hang like little bells from the bush from summer right through to winter (Oct-May). Fruit ovoid, dehiscent capsule, to 8mm (Jan-Jul). This is a very versatile garden plant as it can be used for a quick screen or clipped into a hedge and does equally well in a container. Plant in sun to semi-shade in well composted soil and water regularly throughout the year. Frost tolerant.
