Buddleja saligna - Shrub or small evergreen tree, ±3m (-12m). Crown much-branched, weeping. Occurs in bushveld, dry forest margins & wooded grassland. Widespread. Stem fluted or twisted. Bark pale grey-brown, fissured & flaking. Leaves attractive dark green with whitish below. Upright and fast growing, with fragrant, aromatic tiny, tubular flowers in dense clusters, white or cream (Aug-Jan). Fruit small, brown capsules (Sep-Mar). Fast growing. Attracts bees & insects. A tough, frost-hardy, wind-tolerant and adaptable plant which thrives in many environments, from coastal to inland. Very adaptable and drought resistant, however it thrives if fed and watered regularly until established or while rapid growth is required. Will grow in most soils.
