Euryops virgineus
English: Honey resin bush; Afrikaans: Rivierharpuisbos
Euryops virgineus - Medium, erect shrub with fine foliage and profusion of showy yellow flowers in late winter to spring - prune after flowering. Evergreen, frost hardy and drought and wind resistant once established. Prefers a semi-shade position. Thrives if fed with 3:1:5 slow release chemical or organic fertiliser and if watered during dry spells. They like some spray on the leaves in the dry winter atmosphere. Fast growing, ideal for new gardens where it rapidly fills open spaces. Plant in well drained sunny position. Prune the plants back hard after flowering to keep them tidy. You may have to replace old plants after a few years when they have become too leggy and untidy.
